It was supposed to be a holiday, the two weeks I spent in Glasgow and other parts of the UK this summer. But, if you’re bringing your brand new camera and Lenzie Moss are playing at Stereo, why not film a session? Lenzie Moss is the new band of former BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub member Finlay MacDonald and features Andrew Truscott and Nicholas John Grant of The Seventeenth Century on drums and bass. This session was recorded in the backstage room of Stereo.
The venue at Renfield Lane, Glasgow is where I earlier saw Ross Clark support Frightened Rabbit and witnessed Doghouse Roses release their second album ‘This Broken Key’ in November 2010. Even though the show wasn’t that busy, Lenzie Moss proved to be as good live as on record. Besides, if you’re standing there, in the audience with Biff Smith of The Starlets and most of The Seventeenth Century on one side and mister Murdoch of Belle And Sebastian on the other, you might just be at the right place, the right time.
Before all this, MacDonald performed three songs. Two Lenzie Moss songs, one Stereolab cover. Well worth spending a bit of my holiday time on.
